ACW Battle pics

As I mentioned last post, I had a chance to get over to Bill's and play two games using our 1:72 ACW figures.  We've been using cheap IMEX figures we got from Hobby Lobby (with a coupon, making the miniatures less expensive than the bases.  The first battle we played using Hearts of Tin, the second using some homegrown rules a fellow gamer named Robert developed.  The second game was a little rough because we were all pretty unfamiliar, but it was still good.  I'll do a write-up of my thoughts about Hearts of Tin later, but for now here are the pics from the game.  Don't forget to click on the pic for a close-up!

For an army that cost less than ten dollars, I think it looks pretty good.  Bill had flocked his bases and I hadn't, so I need to "keep up with the Joneses" on this one.  We both have plenty of more plastic figures for this range, so we can continue to add to the armies for an eventual larger battle.

I forgot to mention: my Sons of the South won the first battle by a hair, but was trounced in the latter one.

Nick Stone, Reaper Bone

It's been a long while since I painted something, and with a friend of mine about to start a sci-fi RPG campaign, I thought I would at least paint something for that campaign.  So I dug deep into my box of Reaper Bones and came up with this guy.  He's got a quick paint job, but I think he looks good.

Tomorrow my ACW Rebels will get to go up against Bill's Union troops.  I'll make sure to post some pics!

A Winter Ruin

It is only four degrees outside and snowing again so it is a good day to be pulling out some unfinished projects and getting them done.

This ruin started out as a much more ambitious project but I ran out of steam. I re-tooled it into a much more simple ruin but I think it is pretty effective. I've written before about how wargaming terrain can be too overdone, but that's not the case here.

Viking Berzerkers

Viking berzerkers by Gripping Beast.  The photo shows the wolf pelts as being blue, which really isn't the case despite my tweaking the color on the photo.  In any case, I thought I'd do up some real berzerkers for my SAGA warband, and get back into painting miniatures again.  These took a while, but I got them done.
